FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Dear Sisters and Brothers:
It is in the schedule above, but just as another reminder, the Mass on Friday will now be at 7:00 a.m. and remain so throughout the football season. All who are affiliated with the high school in any way are invited to attend. This is always a time to pray for our young people, both in the athletic programs and not. Our young people are our future; they need our prayerful support as they spend these years gaining wisdom and knowledge. Very appropriately, the Gospel message for this weekend proclaims that one attitude which should distinguish every Christian; and this is HUMILITY. Without humility a person can never enter into the spirit of Christ, who came not to be served, but to serve. The context of the Lord’s teaching is a dinner, a banquet. This image shows us that the glorified Kingdom for which we all hope and aspire, is a great FEAST, at which all God’s children will eternally enjoy peace and happiness. There will be no more corruption, no more sadness or pain. The banquet will be the gathering of all into one glorious family. We are called to bring this attitude into our daily lives. We are to live humbly before the Lord. This week take time to sit down and read prayerfully Psalm 131.
